Meet Our NSR Student Editors — Kyle Hellmann, Social Media Editor – The North Star Reports – Sponsored by The College of St. Scholastica and The Middle Ground Journal
Kyle Hellmann, NSR Social Media Editor. History Major with a Minor of Political Science, The College of Saint Scholastica. Graduate in 2016. Year started with NSR: Fall of 2014
Hello readers! I’m Kyle Hellmann, an editor for the North Star Reports. I’m an outdoor enthusiast. You’ll find me outside anytime of the year, enjoying the natural beauty of our wonderful planet. I am a Nordic Skier for the College of Saint Scholastica. Along with that, I enjoy reading and writing about the environment. I also share what I’ve learned in the process, much to the annoyance of my friends. I’m a history major, and I plan to go into the world of environmental policy. My dream job would be a lobbyist pushing for green energy or conservation policies either at the state or federal level. I value our future, and I believe that I can help make it better.
I’m volunteering for the North Star Repots because I want to share and learn knowledge. Since being a part of the NSR, I’ve gotten into a habit of reading online articles, newspapers, or anything at least thirty minutes a day and I think that is an extremely good habit. The North Star Reports can help anyone get into that daily ritual, by providing cool and interesting articles that are put into one convenient place. I am learning about different perspectives from each article I read, as a large portion of the articles that are posted are not local to where I live. I have come to realize that other people have rituals that are different than mine and that is awesome! I hope by being an editor I will gain a broader perspective of humankind!

The North Star Reports publishes edited essays from our students, particularly from those who are currently stationed, or will soon be stationed abroad. Students have reported from Mongolia, Southern China, Shanghai, northeastern China, The Netherlands, Tanzania, Ireland, England, Finland, Russia, and Haiti. We also have students developing reviews of books, documentaries, and films, and analysis of current events from around the world. We will post their dispatches, and report on their interactions with the North Star Reports students and teachers. We thank The Department of History and Politics and the School of Arts and Letters of The College of St. Scholastica for their generous financial support for The North Star Reports and The Middle Ground Journal.
