My name is David Miller, and I am entering my senior year at the College of St. Scholastica this coming fall. I am a secondary education and history major, and I intend to graduate in the spring of 2016. This is my first year on the editorial team with the North Star Report. I was raised and attended high school in Rogers, Mn. As I grew up in Rogers I always had an interest in learning and that is a big reason for me going into the teaching profession. My interest has always been in history and that is mostly because I had amazing teachers along the way to help develop that interest. The College of St. Scholastica has done an amazing job in catering to my historical interest, and has grown my interest from history to all around knowledge. My future plans after graduation are to get a teaching job in the state of Minnesota, and to hopefully volunteer as a coach on a high school football team.

Volunteering for the North Star Report (NSR) is an experience I look forward to having. I am volunteering for the NSR because I want students who read these articles to be well informed about the world we live in. The hope I have in volunteering is to connect the world to our readers. The stories on the NSR are very well written and give those who read them a slice of different cultures throughout the world. Personally I am looking to receive experience in the editorial field, and the pleasure of sharing stories to those who would like to read them. I look forward to learn from our experienced editors and to share an abundance of stories with our readers.

The North Star Reports publishes edited essays from our students, particularly from those who are currently stationed, or will soon be stationed abroad. Students have reported from Mongolia, Southern China, Shanghai, northeastern China, The Netherlands, Tanzania, Ireland, England, Finland, Russia, and Haiti. We also have students developing reviews of books, documentaries, and films, and analysis of current events from around the world. We will post their dispatches, and report on their interactions with the North Star Reports students and teachers. We thank The Department of History and Politics and the School of Arts and Letters of The College of St. Scholastica for their generous financial support for The North Star Reports and The Middle Ground Journal.
