My name is Mackenzie Sherrill and I am a Biology major at the College of St. Scholastica. My intended graduation date is the winter of 2017 and I began writing for the NSR in the spring of 2015. I am from a small town in central Minnesota called Rush City, where I grew up and graduated from high school. After graduating college I plan to go on to get my Master’s degree in order to become a physician assistant and plan to work somewhere in Minnesota. I chose a path in the medical field because I love to help others and hope to impact others’ lives in a positive way through my work and compassion.

I decided to write for the NSR because I saw it as the perfect outlet as a means to use my love for writing. Ever since I was young, I can remember enjoying to write, but was never able to find an outlet besides school to write about things I believe to have a deeper meaning, that is until the opportunity to write for the NSR was given to me. I consider writing for the NSR to be very special because it will allow me to write about things I am passionate about, which will hopefully help me to educate and teach other students about important things going on in the news. I am excited for this chance to write because it will allow me to stand out on my future applications into physician assistant programs and that it will serve as a way for people to get a good insight into the type of person I am and what I value by seeing the topics I enjoy writing about. Some of the topics I am interested in and hope to share with readers will pertain to science and areas within the medical field, since those are the things I am most passionate about.
